Please explore the story of Strings Attached project. Our blog posts have highlights, videos, photos, writings, sounds that chronicle each year starting in 2014 to the present year.
The Strings Attached project began in 2009 offering non-profit music education opportunities to neighborhood youth in American roots music through guitar, ukulele, mandolin and other stringed instruments. We served hundreds of youth through individual lessons, small ensemble creations, summer camps, summer academies, in-school residencies and school visits. We’ve recorded four CD’s of American roots music combining student talents with local music artists. They are available to hear at

Transition: During 2022 and 2023, Strings Attached will transition from a youth nonprofit and be renamed “Mr. Steve’s Guitars and Ukuleles.” The youth-oriented non profit project will end and provide private lessons through Zoom and developing partnerships with online music education tutoring learning platforms and online companies who offer music lessons in guitar and ukulele.
Our former organizational nonprofit, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ferguson, has decided we are “no longer a good fit for their community.”
